Just a few kilometers from Puno, set among the reed banks of Lake Titicaca, the Uros Floating Islands are one of the most original and fascinating attractions in Peru.

Travel by motorboat across the lake and through narrow reed-lined channels to reach these man-made islands, built entirely from layers of totora reeds. The Uros people, one of the oldest ethnic groups in South America, have inhabited these floating platforms for centuries—long before tourism ever arrived.

Contrary to misconceptions, their lifestyle is authentic and deeply rooted in ancient traditions. Discover how and why they continue to live among the reeds, and learn about their unique engineering, fishing, and weaving techniques directly from the community.

Uros Reed Floating Islands – Half Day Tour

Pick-up from your hotel in Puno
Transfer to the port
Motorboat ride across Lake Titicaca to the Uros Islands (approx. 30 min)
Visit several reed floating islands and interact with local Uros families
Learn about their history, daily life, and traditional crafts
Optional reed boat ride (can be arranged directly with locals)
Return boat trip to Puno
