Day 1: Taquile Island UNESCO Heritage & Amantani Island Homestay
Transfer from your central Puno hotel to the main dock. Board our fully equipped, semi-fast motorboat and begin cruising across Lake Titicaca (12,507 ft / 3,812 m). During navigation, enjoy onboard lectures exploring Incan mythology, altiplano history, and an interactive basic Quechua language lesson led by your professional guide.
09:30 AM – Taquile Island: Textile Masters & Pre-Inca Coastal Trail
Arrive at a secluded dock on Taquile Island away from crowded public landings. Walk along an ancient pre-Inca stone pathway flanked by terraced hillsides, blooming cantuta flowers, and panoramic lake vistas.
Visit the village center where resident master weavers showcase their cultural heritage, ancient social governance, and traditional dances. Recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Taquile’s textile craft is practiced exclusively by men. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant overlooking the lake before strolling down to a peaceful sandy beach.
02:00 PM – Crossing to Amantani Island
Re-board the motorboat for a 1-hour cruise across open water toward Amantani Island, known for its terraced hillsides and preserved Quechua customs.
03:00 PM – Host Family Welcome, Village Life & Pachatata Sunset
Disembark at Amantani’s quiet harbor and meet your host family. Follow a stone path to your family homestay. Settle into your room and take part in daily village life—depending on the season, you can join your hosts in sheep herding, quinoa harvesting, or adobe brick preparation.
Late in the afternoon, take a steady hike to the summit of Amantani (13,550 ft / 4,130 m) to visit the ancient Pachatata (Father Earth) Temple and watch the sunset over the lake. Return to the family home for a freshly prepared dinner made with native tubers, grains, and herbs. Conclude the night with a community music and dance celebration.

08:15 AM – Breakfast with Host Family & Departure

09:30 AM – Lake Titicaca National Reserve: Remote Uros Floating Islands
Navigate toward a quiet, authentic sector of floating reed islands inside the national reserve. Step onto the buoyant totora reed platforms—an experience akin to walking on a soft waterbed.
Learn firsthand how the Uros people, one of South America’s oldest ethnic lineages, harvest and interweave totora roots (khili) to construct anchored living platforms, homes, and floating schools. (Optional rides on traditional totora reed catamarans are arranged directly with the local fishermen).
01:00 PM – Arrival in Puno & Hotel Transfer
Disembark at Puno’s city harbor and transfer back to your hotel. This midday arrival leaves you free to explore Puno or seamlessly connect with evening transfers to Juliaca Airport (JUL) or buses to Cusco.
