This 2-day scenic journey takes you from the high plains of Puno to the dramatic landscapes of the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. Along the way, you’ll witness majestic volcanoes, high-altitude lagoons, herds of wild vicuñas, and traditional Andean villages. Relax in natural hot springs and marvel at the soaring Andean condors from one of the best viewpoints in South America. This experience perfectly combines nature, culture, and stunning geography, ending in the beautiful city of Arequipa.

Itinerary

Day 1: Bus Ride from Puno to Chivay – Hot Springs & Folklore Evening

06:15: Transfer from your hotel in Puno to the bus terminal.
Board the comfortable tourist coach to Chivay, traveling through the Altiplano covered in Ichu grass, crossing breathtaking landscapes.
Stop at Lagunillas Lagoon to spot high-altitude birds like the giant Andean coot and Andean geese.
Continue through Pampa Cañahuas, a protected area where you’ll see herds of wild vicuñas.
Enjoy panoramic views at the Volcanoes Viewpoint (4,950 m) before descending into the Colca Valley.
Around 12:00 p.m., arrival in Chivay and transfer to your selected hotel.
Optional lunch at the hotel or local restaurants in the main square.
16:00: Visit the La Calera Hot Springs to relax in natural thermal waters (bathing suit required – rentals available).
In the evening, enjoy an optional dinner with a folkloric music and dance show.
If staying at Colca Lodge Hotel, you can relax in the private hot springs, spa, or heated pool.
Overnight in Chivay.

Day 2: Condor’s Cross & Transfer to Arequipa

Early breakfast at the hotel.
Depart towards Cruz del Condor Viewpoint, one of the most spectacular spots to view the Colca Canyon in its full depth (nearly 4,000 ft) and witness the majestic Andean condors gliding on thermal air currents.
Visit traditional villages of Maca and Yanque, with their colonial churches and stunning scenery.
Stops at Choquetico and Antahuilque lookouts to admire the complex Incan and pre-Incan terraces and lytic models used for advanced hydraulic planning.
Return to Chivay for lunch.
Afternoon bus ride to Arequipa, crossing picturesque valleys and volcanic landscapes.
Arrival in Arequipa at approximately 17:30 hrs.
Transfer to your selected hotel (not included – ask for options).
Evening at leisure to explore Arequipa and try its famous cuisine.
