Duration: 9h30min. Distance: 99 kilometers round trip
07:00 am. Transfer to the port of the city to embark at The Titicaca Uncovered deluxe motorboat. After departing enjoy of an onboard tasting experience “Peru History in flavors”.
08:30 am. Arrival at Taquile Island, there we have an encounter with the local community & learn about the “Textile arts” that has been declared by UNESCO as immaterial world heritage. Observe the ancient traditions & dances of the islanders have been well preserved due to isolation.
Later a pre-Incan pathway with extraordinary views over Lake Titicaca will lead us to a pristine sandy beach, have some time to relax and feel the serenity of the highest navigable lake in the world. Approximately at 11:45 am. we leave the island.
12:10 am. approximately arrival to Santa Maria community at the extreme of the peninsula of Capachica. Welcome by the locals, there we are introduced in an intensive cross-cultural experience, be part of the ceremony of opening of the “Pachamanca” a traditional way of cooking using underground ovens. After enjoying these delicacies in a small but very scenic restaurant Visit the “Titicaca navigators” Interpretation center to learn about the navigation and ancient sea fairing in Peru & Lake Titicaca.
02:00 pm Arrival to a remote area of the National Reserve of Lake Titicaca to explore the UROS Ccapi & Titino region. These are considered as the last authentic Uros reed floating islands, less commercial and little visited. The Uros are descendants of one of the oldest human groups in South America, learning about their extraordinary history and the reasons that led them to make a home into the reed banks. Optional tours in reed boats. Depart back to Puno.
4:10 pm Arrival in Puno and transfer back to your hotel.
