Code of Conduct Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents

In compliance with Law No. 28251, known as the "Law against abuse and sexual exploitation," which includes crimes such as user-client and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the tourism sector; we acknowledge the MINIMUM COMMITMENTS THAT ALL TOURISM SERVICE PROVIDERS MUST ASSUME to counteract the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in travel and tourism. Tourism service providers will adopt a Code of Conduct that their legal representatives, directors, administrators, employees, and contractors linked to the provision of tourism services must observe. This aims to enforce the obligations set forth in Law 28251, prevent behaviors outlined in the law, and incorporate the following minimum control measures:

  1. Refrain from including plans for the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism promotion programs and travel plans.

  2. Avoid providing information to tourists, directly or indirectly, about places where the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents is coordinated or practiced.

  3. Refrain from transporting tourists, directly or through third parties, to establishments or places where the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents is practiced.

  4. Prevent the entry of children and adolescents into hotels, accommodation places, bars, similar businesses, and other establishments providing tourism services for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse.

  5. Take measures to prevent personnel associated with the company from offering tourism services that involve sexual activity with children and adolescents.

  6. Report to MINCETUR and other competent authorities any knowledge of incidents through any means, as well as the existence of places related to the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.

  7. Develop and disseminate internally within the company and with its suppliers of goods and services a policy establishing measures to prevent and counteract all forms of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in travel and tourism.

  8. Train all personnel associated with the company on preventing the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.

  9. Inform users about the legal consequences in Peru of the exploitation and sexual abuse of children and adolescents.

  10. Display this Code of Conduct and other commitments and measures that the provider wishes to adopt to protect children and adolescents in a visible place for the establishment's employees or business establishments. "In compliance with Law No. 28251, the agency advises tourists that the exploitation and sexual abuse of minors in the country are criminally and administratively sanctioned in accordance with current laws."
