The Tambopata reserve In Madre de Dios region of Peru’s Amazon basin is one of the regions on earth with a remarkable amount of biodiversity; it is home for various unique species like the giant otters, this pristine Elbow Lakes filled with an incredible amount of biodiversity. The region holds 362 species, butterflies (1,200 species), and unique type of birds (500 species). The gate way to enter this pristine paradise is the Puerto Maldonado city to 25 minutes flight from Cusco, and the main artery of this nature marvel is Madre de Dios River. At its banks lies the Inka Terra Reserva Amazonica rustic Lodge, in the hearth of a 40 square mile private ecological reserve, there deep in the Amazon rainforest the nature seekers can find and oasis of comfort. All 35 of the jungle camps are illuminated by lantern light, the comfy beds are shrouded in clouds of muslin, and the relaxing hammocks will help you to feel the jungle melody besides an excellent service. There You can visit the exclusive Inka Terra Butterfly house & the jungle explorer canopy walk as the lodge is the base camp to explore the Amazon forest by day excursions and search for the giant otter, tapirs, turtles, monkeys and macaws, and in the twilight river excursions we can search for caimans and capybaras, the lodge is built out of ecologically protective standards.

• Day 04: Inka Terra Lodge to Puerto Maldonado airport

Day 1 – Boat Ride transfer from Puerto Maldonado to Inka terra Reserva Amazonica

At arrival to Puerto Maldonado airport, our expert naturalist guide will take you to visit the Inka terra Butterfly house a paradise for a big number of butterfly species. Later we board the boat and navigate the Madre de Dios River; 45 minutes later you will be welcome by the Inka Terra Lodge staff and receive a short orientation before settling into your private Cabaña. Lunch is served in the spacious dining room of the lodge. After lunch we recommend you to rest and relax to avoid the early afternoon heat before taking the afternoon activities.

Jungle Trail Walk: in the afternoon your expert naturalist will take you in a trail walk by the forest, and observe exotic tree species like Lupuna and Ficus while learning of the amazing rainforest ecosystem. Learn about medicinal plants, insects and how important is to protect this nature marvel.

Twilight River excursion: At the dusk your guide will take you in a boat ride by the Madre de Dios River, to watch how intense becomes the life activity in the dark. Nocturnal animals like capybaras & caimans can be spotted; their iridescent red eyes flicking in the dark will discover their position. As well the bright Milky Way could be observed. Return to the lodge for dinner and a deserved cocktail.

Day 2 – Sandoval Lake Tour & Inka terra Canopy walk.

Sandoval Lake Tour: After an early breakfast, we take a 25 minutes boat ride towards the extraordinary Sandoval Lake, which is an oasis of life great landscapes. It lies at The Tambopata National Reserve, we walk by meandering trails of Mauritia palms, and observe the impressive morning congregations of parrots, parakeets, large and small macaws and some of the other nesters of the palms like; Yellow headed parrot, mealy parrot, scarlet macaw, cobalt winged parakeet. Others species can be seeing in this placid elbow lake such as; red howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, anacondas, turtles and the endangered giant river otter. Return to the Lodge for lunch and a short rest.

Inka Terra Canopy Walk: In The afternoon take the exiting and educative Inka terra Canopy walk, starting at the Inka terra Interpretation Center, the Canopy walk hanging bridges permit to access to spots and lookouts that will allow you to observe: Toucans, woodpeckers, macaws, Yellow headed parrots, mealy parrots, scarlet macaws, cobalt winged parakeet. Learn how the tree species compete for the day light and form an intricate ecosystem at the highs. If wanted sunset can be seeing from the tree tops. Return to the lodge for dinner and Cocktails and enjoy a nature presentation in the Eco – Media center.

Day 3 – Return to Puerto Maldonado ( 3 DAY & 2 NIGHT PROGRAM )

After breakfast return to Puerto Maldonado (for 3d/2n Program): By motor boat you get transferred to Puerto Maldonado (45 minutes ride), our guide will assist you to reach the airport to get your flight to your next destination.

If you are continuing on the 4 day/ 3 night program:

Gamitama Creek farm: After breakfast, continue exploring the rain forest and navigate by motor boat the Gamitama creek the follow a narrow trail to the Gamitama farm, your expert guide will explain you all concerning to the creek ecosystems. The atmosphere and surrounding nature are just relaxing. We have a delicious picnic lunch at the farm and our guide will lead us in a tour by the farm to see how local farmers raise fruits and vegetables. Return to the lodge.

Free afternoon at the lodge: We recommend you to relax this afternoon in one the hammocks & in the lodge’s SPA or continue exploring the various trails at the Tambopata National Reserve or canoeing one of the streams of Madre de Dios River. Later have dinner at the lodge.

Overnight at The Inka Terra Reserva Amazonica Lodge

Day 4 – Return to Puerto Maldonado ( 4 DAY & 3 NIGHT PROGRAM )

Return to Puerto Maldonado: After down breakfast we take a motor boat by the Madre de Dios river to Puerto Maldonado ( 45 minutes ) your guide assist you to reach the Airport to get your flight to your next destination.
