Uros Floating Islands – Half Day
09:00 am: Pick up from your hotel and transfer to Puno port.
09:30 am: A scenic 30-minute motorboat ride (6.5 km) brings us to the Uros archipelago—a collection of over 100 man-made floating islands built from totora reeds. The Uros are an indigenous fishing community with ancient roots. While little is known about their exact origins, they have developed closer ties with mainland culture in recent decades.
Guided Visit: Explore two islands with your guide to learn about local culture and daily life, learn how they build these unique floating platforms. You can also take an optional ride on a traditional reed raft before returning to Puno.
12:15 am: Arrival at the port and transfer back to your hotel.
Cultural Perspective:
Reports have circulated claiming that the Uros floating islands are unauthentic and something of a tourist trap. However, this is a misconception. While it is true that the Uros people base their economy on tourism, many of their cultural traditions—and the very art of constructing floating reed islands—remain genuinely fascinating. Furthermore, more distant, highly authentic islands can also be visited.
