Transfer to the Uros Lodge (L, D)
Transfer to the Lodge: The experience begins with a pick-up from the local Puno City hotels nor the bus terminal and transfer to a small dock just outside the city (from the airport is subject to extra cost). From there, 15–45-minute motorboat ride (2 to 6 km) towards the lodge through a natural channel surrounded by totora reeds, there are over 100 floating islands.
Arrival & Activities: Mind that checking starts at 12:00 h. in That case you can participate in some of the included activities like, reed boat rides, reeds harvesting demonstrations. Some activities like kayaking are subject to extra cost.
Evening transfers are available, but arriving earlier in the day is highly recommended to enjoy the lake scenery and participate in host-family activities,
Meals & Facilities: All meals are served in the shared dining room. Most lodge rooms feature panoramic views of Lake Titicaca.
Morning Activities & Departure (B)
Morning: Enjoy breakfast with your hosts. If you miss any activities on Day 1, you can participate in them this morning.
Connection with other local Tours: Mind that the Uros reed islands lodges are located only to 2 – 6 kilometers away the shores of Lake Titicaca, just near Puno city So just staying around the area will not give you a good perspective of Lake Titicaca and its islands. We strongly recommend exploring some of the other attractions Like Taquile Island & Amantani Island the pickup and drop off can be done from the reed islands.
Departure: Most lodges have an early checkout (10:00 am.) Then transfer back to the mainland for your onward connection—either to your hotel in Puno or directly to Juliaca airport.
Facilities and Accommodation:
Uros lodges are constructed using traditional local materials, primarily totora reeds. Inside, rooms are insulated with wooden floors, private bathrooms, and warm showers. But quality of facilities varies according to the lodge category.
Standard Lodges: Authentic and basic local accommodation but comfortable.
Deluxe Lodges: Enhanced comfort with premium amenities and elevated finishes.
Cultural Perspective:
While the Uros floating islands were historically more authentic, they have become a very popular tourist attraction. Some lodges still preserve traditional architecture, while others present a noticeable contrast to traditional Uros culture. While you should not expect a fully untouched cultural experience, some reports mention them to be touristy. But staying overnight on a floating island remains a truly unique and exotic adventure.
